Mobin Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Central-westernmost Hunan (border with Guizhou). The Mobin Formation was named by the Hunan Party of Regional Geological Survey in 1980 and formally published on Regional Geology of Hunan Province in 1985. The naming section is situated in Mobin in Huitong County, Hunan Province and the typical reference section is in Xikou of Tianzhu County, Guizhou Province. Upper formation in the Banxi Gr at this location.

Lithology and Thickness
The Mobin Formation is subdivided into four lithological members. First member is composed of greenish gray and gray metamorphic feldspathic quartzose sandstone, meta-greywacke and conglomerate. Second member is greenish gray, gray and light purple blasto-tuffite intercalated with meta-sandstone and slate. Third member consists of gray and light greenish gray sandy slate and banded slate intercalated with meta-sandstone. Fourth member consists of greenish gray meta-sandstone and slate. The total thickness is 4757 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests conformably on the underlying Gaojian Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Jiangkou Fm
Regional extent
Western Hunan (to border with Guizhou).
